Visit from Bishop Knestout
The Most Reverend Bishop Knestout will be visiting Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, October 30th. Please join him in celebrating the Mass and also in installing Fr. Anthony as our Pastor at 5:00 p.m. We ask that all of our catechists join us in person for this Mass. The Mass will be livestreamed via our FaceBook and YouTube pages.
Second Collection
The second collection for this upcoming weekend is for Catholic Student Tuition Assistance. Thank you for your financial support and generosity!
You can make your contributions by giving online or through the GivePlus mobile app. You can also drop off your envelopes at the church!
All Saints' Day Party!
All ages are invited to join us in our All Saints' Day Party! You can come dressed as your favorite saint on Wednesday, October 27th during Family Faith Formation. The Saint Parade will start at 6:15 p.m. in the PreK wing and move to the library, then to the elementary wing, then to the commons, ending in the Holy Family Gym! There, we will have a "Show and Tell" about the saints and have a costume contest. At 6:45 p.m., the parade will go towards the church commons to join their parents for Mass at 7:00 p.m. Show and tell participants must be able to present the place and birth of their saint, a few facts about their life, and why they chose that saint.
Children's Liturgy
Children’s Liturgy of the Word is scheduled to begin in November. This program is an age-appropriate "Liturgy of the Word" offered for ages 3 through 6 at the 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM Mass. No pre-registration is necessary. Please let us know what Mass your child(ren) will attend by clicking the "Sign Up" button. We will need catechists to help with Children's Liturgy. If you are interested in volunteering, please speak to Joyce Bustamante for English and Juana Ramirez for Spanish.

If you feel called by God to share your talents and walk with others in their faith journey, please contact Joyce Bustamante at joyceb@sheartchurch.org for catechist or volunteer opportunities. We currently need 1 lead catechist for Middle School age students and 2 assistant catechists for High School age students.
Knights of Columbus Coat Drive
The Knights of Columbus are holding a coat drive for Coats for Kids. This is a yearly event to collect money to purchase new, unused coats for boys and girls in the Danville area.
If you would like to make a cash donation, simply make the check out to KofC and bring it to the Church office. If you would prefer to donate a coat, the coats must be new with the price tag still attached to the coat and on a hanger. There will be a large red box in the Commons for collection. Sizes needed are boys 6-18 and girls 6-18. The Knights wish to thank everyone for their generous donations as always.

Confirmation & First Holy Communion
Sundays 10:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m
There is no class this weekend!
Next class will be on Sunday, November 7th, with a parent meeting for Confirmation parents that same day at 10:30 a.m.
All Confirmation and First Communion candidates who did not attend the first meeting will need to make an appointment with Fr. Anthony to review and sign the covenant. You can call the parish office (434-792-9456) or stop by the church to schedule your appointment.
Family Faith Formation
Most Wednesdays, 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Faith Formation is Catholic religious education for children in Pre-K3 through 12th grade. We currently need 2 adult volunteers to assist with classrooms. If you would like to volunteer, please speak with Joyce Bustamante at 434-792-9456 or joyceb@sheartchurch.org

Halloween Parade
Students have the opportunity to participate in a Halloween Parade on Friday, October 29th. Students wearing a costume will be asked to donate $1.00. The money collected will be given to Commonwealth Catholic Charities (CCC) Afghan refugee crisis. The funds will help refugee families rebuild their lives in Virginia. Anyone wishing to donate may make donations through the school office.
Brunswick Stew
SHCS will be selling tickets for Brunswick Stew prepared by stew master, Bobby Smith. Look for more details in the near future! The stew will be available for pickup on Saturday, December 4.

Box Tops for Education
We are still taking Box Tops! Box Tops for Education has a new app for attaining Box Top points. You can also go to BTFE.COM. They are still accepting clipped Box Tops and will continue to do so until products no longer have them on the packages. Labels may be left in the church or school office. These labels provide the school with free educational supplies.
Help SHCS, Help You!
Would you like to direct your Virginia State Taxes to Sacred Heart Catholic School? You can through the Virginia Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits program. Individuals or businesses making contributions of $500 or more can receive a Virginia TAX CREDIT equal to 65% of the donation. The monies are used for tuition assistance for students from families whose household income is less than 300% of the poverty level (for example, $72,900 for a family of 4), or 400% if the child is disabled. In addition, donors who itemize will also receive deductions for charitable contributions on state and federal taxes. Participants should consult their tax advisors to determine their specific tax savings. Individuals and businesses can receive substantial tax benefits by contributing through the EISTC program. Mass Times
Bishop Knestout and other bishops have decided to lift the dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Days Mass obligation in the Dioceses of Richmond, and will reinstate that obligation beginning on Saturday, June 26, 2021 and Sunday, June 27, 2021. We welcome and encourage the Faithful to return to full in-person participation of the Sunday Eucharist, the source and summit of our Catholic faith. This obligation does not apply to those who are ill; those who have reason to believe that they were recently exposed to the coronavirus, another serious or contagious illness; those who are confined to their home, a hospital, or nursing facility; or those with serious underlying health conditions. Advent Bags
We are preparing advent/Christmas bags for inmates at prison facilities in North Carolina, Danville, and in Green Rock Correctional Center in Chatham, VA. It's likely we won't be able to gather as a large group to assemble the bags in December, so we've decided to start now and work on it throughout the fall. You can sign up for a date and time to come by and help prepare bags on the right side and click Sign Up! You can also sign up to take things home to work on them.

Dear Sacred Heart Parishioners:
This is just a friendly reminder as it has become more and more frequent that people are receiving fake emails requesting money, gift cards, etc. from someone pretending to be a person that you know. Unfortunately, many of these emails tend to come in the form of an email account pretending to be Fr. Anthony, other parish office personnel, or school personnel. While, the Diocesan I.T. Department has zero control over which email accounts are created, it’s important to identify these fake email accounts, and remember that Fr. Anthony (or any Diocesan employee for that matter) will not handle business through an email address that is not part of the Richmond Diocese domain (@richmonddiocese.org). This is also the case for any Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic School employee and our email domains (@sheartchurch.org and @sheartschool.com, respectively).
These scams continue to be perpetuated because they continue to work. We ask that you do not reply to such emails, click on links within those emails or download content in them. If you receive help requests that you think are legitimate, verify that the person is legitimate by calling them directly on another known valid number. Don’t ask the emailer for information or a call. Find an offline method of correspondence that you and that person have used in the past to talk with each other.

Christmas Poinsettias
We will be decorating the church with poinsettias for Christmas. If you would like to purchase a poinsettia in honor or in memory of someone, please submit a check payable to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the amount of $16.00. Place the check along with your printed intention in an envelope and bring it by the parish office. The deadline for ordering is Thursday, December 17th. Thank you for always answering the call to help beautify our altar and sanctuary at Christmas, We could not do it without you!
