Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Dear Friends in Christ,
As he was ascending to the glory of the Father, Jesus said, “Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Mt 28:20). And He also taught us: “Amen, amen, I say to you: unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life within you” (John 6:53). He fulfills both of these promises by remaining with His Church and giving Himself to us in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
In the Most Blessed Sacrament we behold the same Christ now worshipped in glory by the angels and saints: Come, let us adore Him!

Long-time and invaluable member of SHJ parish, Dorothy Meehan died Wednesday (15th) evening. Dorothy had been struggling mightily these past few years with chronic health issues. We offer condolences to her daughters, Gail & Jean. Thank God that Fr. Shawn Hughes was able to administer Last Rites & give Viaticum to Dorothy yesterday.

Corpus Christi Procession
“The Corpus Christi procession teaches us that the Eucharist seeks to free us from every kind of despondency and discouragement, wants to raise us, so that we can set out on the journey with the strength God gives us through Jesus Christ … Each one can find his own way if he encounters the One who is the Word and the Bread of Life and lets himself be guided by his friendly presence. Without the God-with-us, the God who is close, how can we stand up to the pilgrimage through life, either on our own or as society and the family of peoples? The Eucharist is the Sacrament of the God who does not leave us alone on the journey but stays at our side and shows us the way. Indeed, it is not enough to move onwards, one must also see where one is going! “Progress” does not suffice, if there are no criteria as reference points. On the contrary, if one loses the way one risks coming to a precipice, or at any rate more rapidly distancing oneself from the goal. God created us free but he did not leave us alone: he made himself the “way” and came to walk together with us so that in our freedom we should also have the criterion we need to discern the right way and to take it.” ~ Pope Benedict XVI
At the end of the 11am Mass, there will be a procession of the Blessed Sacrament around the church grounds with the First Communicants so that the Faithful can receive the abundant blessings which will be bestowed from heaven.

In a time of decreasing numbers of priests and the need for more seminarians to be our future priests, and in addition to it being one of our parish's feast day, in order to appropriately honour this day, you are invited to attend a Holy Hour of adoration and prayer starting at 9:30am on Friday, June 24, at SHJ. (If you can't make this, there's one at St. Michael's in Belleville starting at 11am). Please remember myself and Fr. Price, Fr. Michael Gauvreau, and all the priests of this Archdiocese.

The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is next Friday, and so to celebrate the parish feast day, everyone - SHM & St. B's parishioners too - is invited to a 3pm SHJ Mass followed by BBQ in Marmora. There will be hotdogs, hamburgers, salads, lots of desserts, drinks, etc.
This weekend, the ushers will ask you whether you plan on attending and if so, how many in your party so we can have a rough idea of how much food to order. So save the date and try and come out for some good food. Free will donation accepted for work to be done on the exterior of the church

- Heads up: Next weekend, the St. Bernadette Ormsby Mass will be at 10am instead of 1:30pm
- Next Sunday after the 9am SHM Mass, come over to O'Neill Parish Hall for a Toonie Breakfast sponsored by the CWL and join us in celebrating Sacred Heart of Mary's First Communicants. Fr. Justin will be able to stay for this as the 11am Mass in Marmora is moved to 3pm.

- Special thanks to Don Bailey for installing new exterior light fixtures and LED bulbs at SHM.

- FYI: On Wednesday, June 29th @ 1pm at the Icon Bookstore in Campbellford (across from St. Mary's), Fr. Paul Burchat from Madonna House come to give a talk on the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
- Made this fantastic recipe the other day: Fusilli alla Vodka with Basil & Parmeasan. The reviews don't lie. Lots of flavour. Very easy & delicious.
- We Catholics as Ontario voters need to inform ourselves about school board elections in October. I'm sure there is someone from our parish who would be fantastic. Shouldn't you consider running?
- Thank you to Brenda Poirier and Joanne Forestell and Iris Doyle for the floral decorations at SHJ & SHM respectively this weekend - so fitting for our Eucharistic Lord!
- Details still being worked out - it's been a hell of a time finding accommodations in and around Quebec City - but a major breakthrough today regarding the Papal Pilgrimage to see Pope Francis in Quebec in July. We're beyond capacity so thank you for your interest. Full itinerary will be out next week.

- SHJ Cemetery Committee is offering to clean family headstones for a $40 donation to our Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery account. Moss and lichens seem to be taking over many of them. Please call Bob Vesterfelt if interested @ 613.922.3515. Or you could do it yourself. The method suggested is to mix blue Dawn with water and scrub with a stiff plastic bristle brush, then rinse with clean water so it doesn’t streak. If the lichen is heavy on the stone, scraping beforehand with a wide, flat putty knife is required.
My friend Fr. Eric Nicolai has a wonderful Corpus Christi meditation on how can we live this with deeper understanding of what is going on in each Mass. Worth a watch.
