Two years ago a conversation began between Executive Leadership of the three Catholic Healthcare providers who have a presence in the Archdiocese of Seattle; Providence, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and Peace Health, along with their sponsoring religious communities about how we might join our resources with the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Catholic Community Services / Catholic Housing Services of Western Washington to provide additional services to meet the growing needs of the poor.

From the very beginning of these conversations, all parties responded with an enthusiastic “Yes”, that we can and must do more together to improve the quality of life of those who need our attention, compassion and expertise. Today’s announcement is a humble beginning with a hope that something ‘more’ will grow in our response to the call of Jesus to serve those who are most in need.

Please pray for the success of this initiative, and stay tuned for ways that you can support this marvelous new work of mercy.

Please read the news release for this exciting initiative here.

Finally, I wish to express my gratitude to the Leaders of each of these organizations for their commitment to this collaborative! We are pleased to take this small step for now, and will keep ‘dreaming big’ about how we can do more ourselves, and invite others to come alongside to join us as we seek to serve Christ in others and be Christ in concrete expressions of compassion and charity.

Peace,

Archbishop Etienne
