From March to May 2025, Catholics across Western Washington are volunteering together to reach 175,000 hours of service, as part of the Archdiocese of Seattle's 175th anniversary. Join us and report your hours at the green buttons below.

As of April 15, we’ve reached 117,000 hours! We have a month and a half more to reach our 175,000 goal. We can do this!

ALL volunteer service hours count: the service you usually do each month (serving at your parish, volunteering at a local food bank, volunteering at your children's school and more) plus any extra service you choose to do. Scroll down to try something new.

Join one of the following Season of Service opportunities

April

4/9, 4/11 or 4/12 Volunteer at the Farmworker Center in Mt. Vernon

Join us on April 9, 11 or 12 (or all of four!) for four different service opportunities at the Farmworker Center in Mt. Vernon. The Farmworker Center serves hundreds of migrant farmworker families through a food pantry and a variety of other services.

Wednesday, April 9: Work in the Art Studio assisting art teachers and children.

Friday, April 11: Serve as a tutor for adults with Plaza Comunitaria Basic Literacy & Education.

Saturday, April 12: Assist with operations at the Emergency Clothing Closet.

Saturday, April 12: Help with gardening and refreshing the outside of the Farmworker Center.

On Saturday, May 3, Catholic Community Services Volunteer Services (previous Chore Services) is hosting multiple service opportunities in Covington, Auburn/Kent and Maple Valley in support of our low-income elderly and disabled neighbors. There are 4 different opportunities to serve:

5/3 Covington A 55+ community of many disabled residents need light housework, with some involving heavier work. For volunteers ages 16+. 1 pm to 4 pm. Click here to learn more and sign up.

5/3 Auburn/Kent An elderly farming couple needs help with yardwork, including trimming, weed whacking, trimming trees and bushes. For volunteers ages 16+. Morning, afternoon and all day shifts available. Click here to learn more and sign up.

On Saturday, May 10, Catholic Community Services Volunteer Services (previous Chore Services) is hosting multiple service opportunities in Seattle and Shoreline in support of our low-income elderly and disabled neighbors. There are 4 different opportunities to serve:

5/10 Seattle An elderly senior needs help with yard maintenance, including raking and trimming. For ages 16+, 9 am to 12 noon. Click here to learn more and sign up.

Letter writing to seafarers

Join us in writing letters to seafarers who live and work at sea on container ships and bulk carriers.

Seafarers are usually away from their families for up to 9 months at a time. They often experience loneliness and homesickness. Seafarers have a very valuable role in society because they have a direct hand in bringing us the items we use every day: our clothes, our cell phones, our cars, etc.

Letters help seafarers feel seen and appreciated for their contribution. Letters are very meaningful for them.

How to write your letter:

You can address the letter with "Dear Seafarer" and simply express gratitude for the role seafarers play in bringing us the goods we use every day. Your letter can also express well wishes and blessings for seafarer family members who are in their home countries. It's best to sign your name with first name only and not to include contact info.

Letter Writing to People Experiencing Incarceration

The Archdiocese of Seattle's Criminal Justice Ministry invites you to write letters to people experiencing incarceration.

Letters to people experiencing incarceration can elevate dignity and afford great healing. Often, they feel cast aside. Knowing that someone on the outside is praying for them and expressing care for them means a great deal. Adults can write to incarcerated adults and teens can write to fellow teenagers who are in detention or youth prison.

The Archdiocese of Seattle Criminal Justice Ministry is a team of Catholic chaplains and ministry volunteers committed to providing one-on-one pastoral care, Catholic Masses, sacraments, prayer services, Bible studies, retreats and other spiritual services inside Western Washington’s jails and prisons. Join us in celebrating 175 years

Season of Service is part of the 175th anniversary celebration of the Archdiocese of Seattle. Join us for one or all of the four special Masses and celebrations from January through May.
