Have you ever wondered why there are so many different denominations? Catholic, Baptist, Protestant, Lutheran, etc.... Each one was formed because a group of people interpreted scripture in a different way from another group and as a result, there are different tenets that each group adheres to. So many times we can get wrapped up in the thought that we have the only version of the truth and we focus in on the things that make us different. At SVC we do our best to take our truth directly from Scripture. But what happens when scripture can be interpreted more than one way? Do we part ways? Do we draw a line between us? No, we should rally around the truth that brings us together and honor each other to allow for other viewpoints that don't really affect our salvation. What is the truth that brings us together?
- Jesus saves.
- God loves.
- We are one family and body working together to see God's will be accomplished that all should be saved.
SVC B2B kicked off last week and will make another appearance soon. Our first topic was Baptism and we looked at how baptism was portrayed in the Bible and the examples that we are presented with. We will be having a baptism along with a church picnic on Sunday, July 21st at the Orce's home in Guilford. If you are interested in being baptized, please see Pastor Chris and we will get you ready! We already have some people who have expressed a desire to be baptized but cannot make that date, so another date will be added and will be announced soon! Stay tuned. In our church family, we all have times when we are going through something painful. Our series on "You'll Get Through This" highlighted that very thing. However, what does that look like when the rubber hits the road and someone is really going through something difficult? This Sunday Pastor Chris will look at what it is like to be the person in need of help, and the person who can do the helping and how those work together to display John 13:35, "This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other."

Sharing in the joys and challenges of life with other people who care for us leads to a rich experience in our journey with God. We get to practice what God is teaching us with others who will listen, challenge, and nurture us. We get to practice new skills, use our talents and gifts, and serve people in our community with others who we know and trust. Life groups are great ways to connect with others in the church as well as a way to create a comfortable environment for you to invite friends who may not be comfortable yet with showing up on a Sunday morning. Great relationships make life better and richer! Check out one of our Life Groups for yourself and experience the difference relationships make.
We are now looking for Life Groups to kick off with new subjects! This is a great time to start a new group and dig into something you may have been wanting to study for some time.
Do you have an idea for a Life Group? It all starts with PASSION! What gets you excited and what do you enjoy doing? Whatever it is, it's usually even more enjoyable when it is done with others. Life Groups are all about getting together and building relationships. The groups don't need to center around a Bible or book study. For ideas or help, please contact Shadi.

Love146 has its offices in New Haven and is requesting volunteers to help in the New Haven office. If you are interested in serving this ministry, please respond by clicking HERE.

Stretch, Strength & Cardio Exercise Class
Gisele will be running a class at the Community Center that will focus on Low-Impact cardio movement with strengthening and toning exercises using hand weights, bands, body bars, rings, mats, and more - which will all be provided! All the music will be Christ-centered too!

Every two years, Vineyard USA hosts a national conference that everyone is invited to. This year the conference will be held in two locations, the closer of which is Dayton Ohio.
This years theme is Come Holy Spirit and will focus on the ministry of The Holy Spirit in the local church. If you are interested in going, please see Blandina Orce. THRIVE - Youth Ministry
Thrive is a group for junior and senior high students. An atmosphere where literally anybody and everybody can come and feel included, loved, and heard. The focus is on helping young people learn how to connect with Jesus in a deeper and more personal way. They regularly tackle some very tough topics that are current in our world today.
THRIVE meets every Wednesday at the Parish Center located in Village Walk, in Guilford. 6:30 - 8:30. For more information contact JJ Secki at 203.645.4054.

Oasis is a time of sitting at the feet of Jesus. It is a Harp and Bowl style of worship featuring musical prayer. The name is derived from Revelation 5:8, describing heavenly creatures which each had harps and held golden bowls full of incense (which are the prayers of the saints.) Harp and bowl, soaking Praise and Prayer in an intimate setting, finding rest for your soul. Oasis meets in the Leete room down the hall from where we have our Sunday morning service. At SVC we don't have a special time in the service set aside for collecting tithes and offerings. At a table located at the entrance door, you will find a small box with a cross cutout on the top. Please place your tithes and offerings in this box. There are now envelopes that will be alongside the box that will allow you to designate how you may like your gift applied, or for you to receive a giving statement for cash donations. Please feel free to add your name to your gift, or to designate it toward Tithes and offerings, Missions, or our new Building Fund.
Alternatively, if you prefer to make your contribution online, you can find a link to our PayPal on the website. There you can choose to make a one-time gift, or if it is more convenient you can set up a recurring gift. You can get to that page directly by clicking here.
