Hello Everyone,
Last Sunday we jumped back to the beginning of Philippians to look at the model of Paul's relationship with the church in Philippi and how we can apply what we learned from his model to our own relationships in our family, social circles, and work. Happy relationships make happy people! Even social media knows this which is why one of the more popular hashtags is #relationshipgoals.
Through Paul's example, we found that to foster happier relationships we need to set our own relationship goals based on scripture:
- Be grateful for the people in my life
- Pray joyfully for the people in my life
- Expect the best from people in my life
- Love people in my life like Jesus does.
The action item from that list that we can start implementing
immediately is to pray joyfully for the people in our lives. We saw four sure-fire and solid points we can pray for ANY of our relationships:
- That each would grow in love (love like 1 Cor 13)
- That each would grow in knowledge and understanding
- That each would live with integrity
- That all would grow into the character of Jesus
I personally have begun praying these four points over my family and over many of the relationships in my life. How many times have you wanted to pray for people and you just don't know what to pray other than, "Lord, bless them?" It's really great to have four points that I know I can pray over EVERYONE!
