Bishop Knestout has dispensed all the faithful in the Diocese of Richmond from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass until further notice. However, if you choose to attend a public Mass during the weekday or weekend, it is absolutely imperative that you adhere to the various guidelines and requirements. Join us in praying the Holy Rosary
Throughout the month of October, we will pray the rosary 20 minutes before Mass on Saturdays and Sundays. We invite you to come join your fellow parishioners in prayer. St. John Paul II described the Rosary as a prayer which “in the sobriety of its elements” concentrates “all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety”, and through which “the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer”.

Virtual Silent Auction Oct. 24th-25th!
We had planned on having an in-person event this fall but with the safety of everyone in mind, we are going to stick with a virtual platform for our silent auction items we held on to! This time, everything will be through Google and will be free for our SHCS community to use. From Saturday, October 24th at 12pm until Sunday, October 25th at 6pm, you will be able to bid on over 70 items including Michael Kors bags, Karen's Hallmark gift basket, mulch deliveries, and so much more! #iGiveCatholic and #GivingTuesday will be on December 1st this year! Last year, our school and church community helped us so much in donations that we were able to purchase our new activity bus. Keep an eye out on how you can help this year!

Would you like to direct your Virginia State Taxes to Sacred Heart Catholic School? You can through the Virginia Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits program. Individuals or businesses making contributions of $500 or more can receive a Virginia TAX CREDIT equal to 65% of the donation. The monies are used for tuition assistance for students from families whose household income is less than 300% of the poverty level (for example, $72,900 for a family of 4), or 400% if the child is disabled. In addition, donors who itemize will also receive deductions for charitable contributions on state and federal taxes. Participants should consult their tax advisors to determine their specific tax savings. Individuals and businesses can receive substantial tax advisors to determine their specific tax savings. Second Collection
The second collection for this upcoming weekend is for The Propagation of the Faith, which is an international association that aids the Church's missionary work around the world and in our own country. Thank you for your financial support and generosity!

2020 Eucharistic Congress
As the culmination of our bicentennial celebration, the Diocese of Richmond will host its first Eucharistic Congress, which will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
A Eucharistic Congress is a gathering of clergy, religious, and laity to bear witness to the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. This event will bring together clergy, religious, and laity from parishes, schools, and campus ministries from across the Diocese of Richmond. Instead of gathering at the Greater Richmond Convention Center as planned, we will organize a series of synchronized events in parishes, and speakers will give online presentations. A special edition of the Catholic Virginian will also have more information regarding the kid tracts and activities. More details will be coming soon, so please continue to reserve this date.
Advent Bags
We are preparing advent/Christmas bags for inmates at Green Rock Correctional Center in Chatham, VA. It's likely we won't be able to gather as a large group to assemble the bags in December, so we've decided to start now and work on it throughout the fall. You can sign up for a date and time to come by and help prepare bags on the right side and click Volunteer! Additionally, we are in need of these supplies for the bags:
- Paper bags (7x4x13in)
- Christmas cards
- Construction paper
- Pretzel/chips
- Mints (round, dissolvable type, color: red and white)
- Lined notebook paper
- Envelopes
- Postcard/mailing card
- Ramen noodle packs
- Hot chocolate packs
- Prayer cards/holy cards

Shred Out Hunger
Join God's Storehouse and Commonwealth Document Management on Saturday, November 7th to Shred Out Hunger! The event will be from 9am to 12pm at God's Storehouse, 750 Memorial Drive, Danville VA. Shred a box of personal documents in exchange for 5 or more canned goods! They will also accept monetary donations. For a safe, limited contact event, they ask for you to remain in your vehicle.
