Family Faith Formation
Most Wednesdays, 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Faith Formation is Catholic religious education for Pre-K3 through 12th grade. You do not need to be Catholic to attend, but must be interested in learning more about the faith and engaged in building traditions and community. When Jesus was here, he gathered in community with others, often around a table. When we gather during Mass at banquet of the Eucharist, it makes a difference when we know the other people in the pews. Participating in Faith Formation allows us to grow together as one strong, caring community. If you feel that you are called to help with Wednesday night Faith Formation for either PK3-5th grade or 9th-12th grade, please contact Joyce Bustamante at joyceb@sheartchurch.org. We currently need 5 volunteers for PK3-5th grade and 2 volunteers for 9th-12th grade.
This year we will have adult bible study from 6:00pm-7:00 pm discussing the Gospel of Mark.

Confirmation Preparation

Retrouvaille Program
In marriage, communication is more than just talking. At some point, did you stop sharing about the things that were important to you? Did your spouse?

Retrouvaille is a marriage program dedicated to helping couples grow closer and develop a stronger bond. You give your heart and soul to everything you do, between your work and your family. Are you giving your heart and soul to your marriage? Sometimes the distance between a husband and a wife can seem so wide that it cannot be repaired. Retrouvaille is a marriage progam designed to bring couples closer together. Employment Opportunity
The Office of the Bishop seeks a full-time Coordinator, Bishop’s Visitations and Office Support to provide the Office with scheduling and travel coordination support and general administrative support. The Coordinator will coordinate Bishop’s Visitations and Pastor Installations, to include parish or school staff surveys, preparing location support materials, arranging follow-up visits, and attending Visitations, Installations, or other diocesan liturgies as requested. The Coordinator assists with Confirmation schedules and coordinates on-going calendar and travel requests. The Coordinator also provides various office administrative support assistance.
Minimum of three to five years’ administrative and coordination support experience, preferably working and collaborating with multiple offices and staff in a parish or diocesan environment. An associate degree is desired. Requirements include initiative, strong interpersonal skills, strong professional writing skills, customer service orientation, confidentiality, strong planning and organizational abilities, detail orientation, and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
A practicing Catholic with working knowledge of Church hierarchy and Catholic Church Teaching is required.

Mum Fundraiser Sale
Our annual Mum Fundraiser Sale has started! We are ordering through Raywood Landscape Center in Danville this year and selling 8” pots for $8.50 each. Colors you can choose from are Yellow, Orange/Bronze, Red/Burgundy, and Purple.
Orders with payment are due by Friday, September 24th to the school office. You can stop by the church office to fill out a paper copy. Payments for orders can be made through cash or check (made out to SHCS). Orders will be delivered to the school and ready for pick up Monday, October 4th. Box Tops for Education
We are still taking Box Tops! Box Tops for Education has a new app for attaining Box Top points. You can also go to BTFE.COM. They are still accepting clipped Box Tops and will continue to do so until products no longer have them on the packages. Labels may be left in the church or school office. These labels provide the school with free educational supplies.
Help SHCS, Help You!
Would you like to direct your Virginia State Taxes to Sacred Heart Catholic School? You can through the Virginia Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits program. Individuals or businesses making contributions of $500 or more can receive a Virginia TAX CREDIT equal to 65% of the donation. The monies are used for tuition assistance for students from families whose household income is less than 300% of the poverty level (for example, $72,900 for a family of 4), or 400% if the child is disabled. In addition, donors who itemize will also receive deductions for charitable contributions on state and federal taxes. Participants should consult their tax advisors to determine their specific tax savings. Individuals and businesses can receive substantial tax benefits by contributing through the EISTC program. Mass Times
Bishop Knestout and other bishops have decided to lift the dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Days Mass obligation in the Dioceses of Richmond, and will reinstate that obligation beginning on Saturday, June 26, 2021 and Sunday, June 27, 2021. We welcome and encourage the Faithful to return to full in-person participation of the Sunday Eucharist, the source and summit of our Catholic faith. Dear Sacred Heart Parishioners:
This is just a friendly reminder as it has become more and more frequent that people are receiving fake emails requesting money, gift cards, etc. from someone pretending to be a person that you know. Unfortunately, many of these emails tend to come in the form of an email account pretending to be Fr. Anthony, other parish office personnel, or school personnel. While, the Diocesan I.T. Department has zero control over which email accounts are created, it’s important to identify these fake email accounts, and remember that Fr. Anthony (or any Diocesan employee for that matter) will not handle business through an email address that is not part of the Richmond Diocese domain (@richmonddiocese.org). This is also the case for any Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic School employee and our email domains (@sheartchurch.org and @sheartschool.com, respectively).
These scams continue to be perpetuated because they continue to work. We ask that you do not reply to such emails, click on links within those emails or download content in them. If you receive help requests that you think are legitimate, verify that the person is legitimate by calling them directly on another known valid number. Don’t ask the emailer for information or a call. Find an offline method of correspondence that you and that person have used in the past to talk with each other.

Christmas Poinsettias
We will be decorating the church with poinsettias for Christmas. If you would like to purchase a poinsettia in honor or in memory of someone, please submit a check payable to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the amount of $16.00. Place the check along with your printed intention in an envelope and bring it by the parish office. The deadline for ordering is Thursday, December 17th. Thank you for always answering the call to help beautify our altar and sanctuary at Christmas, We could not do it without you!
