Hello Everyone!
This past Sunday we looked at humility and saw that it is something that matters, that it makes the best leaders, and that it has the power to transform us. Our humble King, Jesus humbled Himself when He who never felt cold, sickness, or pain took on a body and walked among us - feeling all those things Himself. All so we could receive the message of salvation and a relationship with a loving, powerful, and real God. Our hope truly is in Him!
Part of this week's handout included a reading plan that we can all go through this month. The next readings, starting with tomorrow are:
Friday - Psalm 104:1-4
Saturday - Genesis 3:14-15
Sunday - Psalm 2:7
Monday - Isaiah 7:14
Tuesday - Isaiah 40:5
Wednesday - Micah 5:2
Thursday - Isaiah 9:6-7
Most of these are just one verse, so it isn't a big commitment! And although it may be tempting to just read the whole week in one shot, the idea is to have you think about the coming of Jesus every day this month. So try to read each day on the day!

This Sunday we look at our Humble King of Peace. For peace to come onto a scene where turbulence and disruption are ruling, there is always some power that must be confronted. Why does God choose the sledgehammer of humility to defeat foes that power and might cannot? We will look at that this Sunday! Join us as we continue our Advent series, Humble King!
Praise and Worship will begin at 10:30. Why not come at 10:15 to meet and greet a little before the service starts? We also have Morning Prayer starting at 9:30, and all are welcome.
Sharing in the joys and challenges of life with other people who care for us leads to a rich experience in our journey with God. We get to practice what God is teaching us with others who will listen, challenge, and nurture us. We get to practice new skills, use our talents and gifts, and serve people in our community with others who we know and trust. Life groups are great ways to connect with others in the church as well as a way to create a comfortable environment for you to invite friends who may not be comfortable yet with showing up on a Sunday morning. Guys love breakfast! Our next men's breakfast is this Saturday, December 15th at Denny's in Westbrook. This is a great time to just casually get together with the other men in the church and catch up and enjoy a great meal. No RSVP necessary, just show up at 8:00! Communion - December 23rd
Help Needed. If you are interested in setting up the weekly side table for communion, please let Lynda Stannard know! We try to have communion available each week on a table during the Sunday service. When it is there, please feel free to take part at a convenient time in the service, either alone or together with someone else.
Usually the last Sunday of each month, we will celebrate communion together as part of the regular service. This month in celebrating Christmas our next Communion Sunday will be December 23rd.

THRIVE - Youth Ministry
Thrive is a group for junior and senior high students. An atmosphere where literally anybody and everybody can come and feel included, loved, and heard. The focus is on helping young people learn how to connect with Jesus in a deeper and more personal way. They regularly tackle some very tough topics that are current in our world today.

January 18-20, 2019 young adults from the entire Vineyard Eastern Region will be gathering to experience Jesus, connect with others, and asking some tough questions about His greater purpose for their lives. With an emphasis on community, calling, and a diversity of voices the conference will create a space for Vineyard Young Adults to experience direction from God and build relationships with each other. At Shoreline Vineyard we don't have a special time in the service set aside for collecting tithes and offerings. At a table located at the entrance door, you will find a small box with a cross cutout on the top. Please place your tithes and offerings in this box.
Alternatively, if you prefer to make your contribution online, you can find a link to our PayPal on the website. There you can choose to make a one-time gift, or if it is more convenient you can set up a recurring gift. You can get to that page directly by clicking here.

That includes Mais Gaté Child Development Center, where Naika goes every week run by the Church of God of Mais Gaté, (Port-au-Prince). Our sponsorship allows Naika to attend the program at Mais Gaté where she works with her tutor, spends time with her friends, and even gets something to eat.
