About this event

Our group was formed in 2016, at which time we took on the mission of serving the elderly of St. Joseph’s Parish. We send cards, make visits and make phone calls to the elderly, especially those in our nursing homes and assisted living homes. We have also delivered prayer shawls to the elders for the Prayer Shawl small group. In addition, we are also responsible for taking care of the planning and set up for the Mass of Remembrance to honor our deceased members of our families and friends who had died in the previous year. This is held each year on November 2 at St. Joseph’s Church.

Each meeting opens by members catching up with each other and our families as the group is gathering in our home or on Zoom. We then open the meeting with prayer, during which we include “popcorn” prayers when we ask each other to pray for any special requests that are laying heavy on our hearts.

After we have had conversation and opening prayer, our meetings vary by blocks of time. Sometimes we are studying the Bible; other times it will be sharing about a Saint that we have read about; or perhaps watch a video series together about a spiritual topic. We have also taken a day-long pilgrimage to a local site: such as Cross in the Woods in Indian River. We also spend a meeting or two to plan the Mass of Remembrance. We generally plan the upcoming year during the summer so that we are prepared for a new start-up in September.

We welcome new members to join our group, to learn more about our faith, to grow in our own faith journey and to share that knowledge with others.
